Show & Tell

Alex took one step closer to fulfilling his lifelong dream of having his LEAF robot Rocky fetch a beer from the fridge. He acquired a robot arm to play around with, to give him more experience, before designing a robot arm for his alter ego: Rocky.

Scouring the Walmart for Robot nerds: Ebay, he found a SCORBOT. Alex wrote an article on on this site.

Alex like this robot arm, because it almost has a human-size reach with 2ft radius sphere. It has 5 DOF. It has a unique pulley mechanism which allows the motors to be in the 'rear' so that the arm does not need to lift its own motors. The motors do not have brakes. They have incremental decoders and homing sensors.

Here are a couple interesting links:

Rainer Hessmer showed us the self-balancing robot platform, based on the Segway, he is working on. You can find more information on his website.
